I merely bought a new labtop bring it home put within a dvd and try to play it on windows medium player and it says cannot play because the correct dvd codec is not installed. lol what is that codec call and were do i download it from can u guys supply me a sight? thankfulness everybody

u need a dvd decoder ... and i doubt u involve an avi codec .. try this for dvds ..

www.videolan.org this medium player has FREE codecs, where on earth as with WMP you buy them...I HIGHLY recommend it
You can try to download a free dvd player, but I would recommend investing 40-50 bucks and buying Win DVD, or something resembling that. You can get it at download.com, or at their site. I have the same point until I realized that computers don't usually come near DVD players installed...;)
