sounds like you any have a complex drive issue or a power supply issue. I can't tell from your description. If you plug the system within and you can actually make clear to there is power getting to the system later I would say your rugged drive is dead. And if your trying to reload the OS and the computer does not certify there is a strong drive installed then perceptibly your hard drive is toast and wishes to be replaced.

However, if you can not see/hear the system starting (check for power light as well) afterwards you have a power supply issue which surrounded by most cases with a laptop requires a fresh motherboard. Most laptop manufactures in a minute put all the peripherals onto the motherboard - ie: video, audio, etc...
