Help, laptop/ notebook choice!!?

Hi, plenty of question like this one i know. I necessitate a laptop before conservatory blah blah you know the drill. It has to be below $1000. It has to be a moral multitasker, decent hit. a good sized tricky drive and good battery-operated life. Im looking at any laptop originator that i have hear of such as, dell, hp, sony, toshiba, gateway. I dont want anything to do with acer :P. School starts on the 23rd so i want something than can ship speedy. Thank you. Size isnt really a problem except preferably at most, a 15.4 inch screen.
