Eliminate choke on power cord for laptop?

The power cord for my laptop broke at the input finish off and I soldered it back together. I'd similar to to get a unusual plug but it's so close to the choke, i'd have to cut the choke sour to put the new one on. I've researched this but can't find an answer to whether it's O.K. to exterminate the choke. Is this filtering indispensable? Or just Useful? Thanks surrounded by advance!

the easiest road to fix this is get a tentative power supply or cord. If the choke is the box thats what you are talking more or less. Its a converter or rectifier yes you need it. It turns AC wall power into DC. Which the freestyle uses to charge and the laptop uses for power. If there are filter it would be that box.
