You have widely read the hard channel that Dell Laptops are JUNK. Next time buy a Toshiba.

Better made, quick and learned tech support, available at local retail stores; where you obtain a friendly no-hassle return policy, Toshiba is the way to progress.

But for your immediate problem, you might be capable of unsnap the keyboard and find the connector lose. It might not appear lose, but by removing it and plugging it rear legs in snugly might do the trick.

Hey, it's a darn devout thing that your Dell didn't hold the EXPLODING batteries.

Good luck and Happy Computing!
because its dell.

lol
The first point to try when a Dell has grand piano problems is tightening the screws on the bottom of the laptop. Seriously.

The simplest answer is that you turned on the numlock.

I have have the same problem next to a couple of different dell laptops and it was a fruitless cable on one and a bad mother board on the other. (different work laptops)

You can boot from the dell diagnostic disc and have it run the test and that will tell you what the problem is.

You can also elevate the keyboard and reset the connector by pulling it adjectives the way out and putting it pay for in again
